Each of us spends around 3,000 hours a year in bed. Even if you get the recommended 8 hours of sleep, you may still feel tired. It's not just the length of sleep that matters, but also the quality of rest, which is influenced by many factors, including what you wear under the covers.

5 tips to help you sleep better
Sleep, along with a balanced diet and exercise, is part of a happy and healthy lifestyle, so don't underestimate it. How can you get the most out of every night and feel perfectly rested?
- Before falling asleep, make sure the room is dark or dimly lit with warm light. Proper lighting helps your brain recognize that it's time to go to sleep. Get a light bulb with an orange or red tone. Turn off your cell phone and computer, or at least set a blue light filter on them.
- Don't forget to give your mind a rest. Don't tackle complicated work or school assignments before bedtime. Spend at least an hour relaxing with your loved ones, reading a book, or watching a good movie. You can find more ideas for relaxation techniques in our article on self-care.
- Regularity is the key to success. And sleep is no exception. Find your ideal daily routine and go to sleep and wake up at similar times every day. Your body will get used to a regular rhythm and you will immediately feel better.
- Fall asleep tired. Do you also find yourself working on the computer or studying all day and not finding time even for a short walk? Then you may have trouble falling asleep. Physical fatigue contributes to better quality sleep, and exercise should be an integral part of your day. However, exercise no later than two to three hours before bedtime, then indulge in more relaxing activities to calm your body before bed.
- Make yourself comfortable. A good mattress, comfortable sheets and bedding, a clean and tidy bedroom, a well-ventilated room, and comfortable pajamas that don't pinch or pull even when you toss and turn all night. These little things will greatly benefit your sleep and your experience of the following day.
There has been a lot of talk about sleep lately, which is a good thing. You can find further inspiration in Matthew Walker's book Why We Sleep, for example.
